On Sao Vicente, people are currently – with subsidies from the Dutch government – building a cruise ship terminal and extra facilities. An upgrade is necessary to further expand the number of arrivals and to maintain quality / safety. With the arrival of more tourists, the cruise ship terminal can give the economy an extra boost.

Visa

If you are taking a cruise vacation with a destination on Cape Verde then you do not need to apply for a separate tourist visa yourself, as long as you leave the archipelago again via the cruise ship. The cruise lines usually provide the tourist visa as part of the package offered. If Cape Verde is your departure or final destination for the cruise vacation and you make the rest of your trip by plane, then in most cases you will need a tourist visa / registration.
